Broken Heart Love Affair - Dream It and Do It

Broken Heart Love Affair - Dream It and Do It

What do the Travelling Wilburys, a band that included founders George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne, and Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison have to do with Canadian advertising? Everything if you compare five legends, all leaders in their field, coming together to form a supergroup and proving that magic can happen when you leave your ego at the front door. The same holds true for what happened last year when five of the most renowned and respected individuals in advertising, Beverley Hammond, Denise Rossetto, Todd Mackie, Jay Chaney and Carlos Morenolept off the top rungs of their field to form a new agency Broken Heart Love Affair. Their dream was to renew their love for advertising and to share that love with all who consume it. The business challenge was that this was also the early days of the pandemic, and working remotely and in isolation, not an ideal time to launch a collaborative agency and to see if five leaders could work together. As part of my #smallbusinessmatters series, I interviewed them, and today, on their first-year anniversary I had a chance to chat with them again. They will also join me this weekend for my #ChatterthatMatter radio show. These five embody how dreaming can becoming doing, regardless of the relentless nightmares of this virus. They are also five of the most wonderful human beings I have had the honour to interview and their insights on how to create and collaborate should be studied in every class and boardroom. Happy Anniversary BHLA.
